Diving in the morning (UPDATED 20.7: Video of the rescue exercise)

19.07.2008

Today we got up at 5am, because yesterday we agreed to dive in the morning. The reason we woke up so early is because the boat has to be back on the shore at 9.30 for the dive center customers.

Jussi was again responsible for todays deepest dive 79m (Constant weight with fins), which was also his new personal best. He said that the dive felt good and he had even time to watch some fishes. Nice dive. For Eero rope was set to 58m (free immersion), but he had problems being relaxed during the dive and had to turn around at 52m. I was aiming today for 45m constant weight without fins at managed to do it, but again with some equalization problems. I had my mouth full of air, but still could not equalize which is really strange. I had to turn around twice to do the equalization. Other than that dive felt relaxed.

After the dives we again had a little resque exercise. We lifted Francois from 45m in 20 sec's, which is quite cool (check the profile).

Video from Jyri's CNF dive.

Francois resque profile from 45 metres. Getting him up took only 20 seconds. The force that the diver is pulled up with is very strong, so the lanyard should be very robust to be useful in a real rescue situation.

Update 20.7.: Video of the rescue exercise.

Florient, Francois, Dave and Patrick posing. It seems it's impossible to take normal picture from these guys.

Entire crew except Francois. From left: Dave, Patrick, Sophie, Jyri, Jussi, Florient, Eero and in the front Nano.

On our day off we did a "little" grocery shopping in Ferreries, the next town, where the prices are quite a bit lower than in Cala Galdana where we live.
