Record dives: Where, when, how? |
23.06.2008 |
My recent training has been reduced to zero due to a prolonged flu. Its timing is annoying, but better now than during the record attempts in Menorca. I have nothing to add to the training diary itself, but I will briefly explain where, when, how and with whom the record attempts will be organised. The dives will be made in Menorca (or Minorca), which is one of the Balearic Islands located in the Mediterranean Sea and belongs to Spain. Francisco Gautier from Portugal will arrange a depth diving training camp for experienced freedivers. Francisco is an international AIDA freediving judge and he can ratify our Finnish national record dives, as long as the attempts have been informed to AIDA Finland in time. Francisco will also bring along the necessary video cameras, safety equipment and no limits sled. In connection with the camp we can implement our record efforts at a very reasonable cost. The dives will be arranged in co-operation with the local Sea Gypsy Divers diving centre. The centre will also provide a boat for our use. Within a 15-minute boat trip from the centre more than 120 metres of diving depth can be found in clear waters. The diving area is apparently not very well protected from wind, so waves can present some challenges to our dives. |
